On November 6, 2025 Danfoss inaugurated the expansion of its plant in Apodaca, Nuevo León, with a US$100 million investment that effectively doubles its installed capacity in the state.
The expansion added 20,000 square meters across three industrial buildings and seven new production lines, focused on low-impact refrigerants. The company's direct employment in Nuevo León rises from 1,300 to 1,800 people.
What is made there
The plant produces refrigeration and air conditioning components: scroll compressors, valves, sensors, heat exchangers and condensing units. Between 70% and 80% of that output is exported, primarily to the United States.
Danfoss operates three plants in Mexico, in Apodaca, Reynosa and Querétaro, with roughly 3,000 people, close to 7% of its global workforce.

Why this expansion matters more than it appears
Thermal management stopped being a comfort issue and became an industrial bottleneck. Data center expansion, transport electrification and food cold chains are pushing demand for compressors, exchangers and controls all at once.
Nuevo León already concentrates a good share of that capacity. Together with the electrical and power equipment manufacturing installed in Apodaca and Monterrey, the state supplies a chain whose demand does not hinge on a single project but on a long cycle in the neighboring market.
A company doubling an existing plant, rather than opening a new one somewhere else, is the clearest signal that the surrounding supplier ecosystem already works.
