The LEGO Group committed an additional US$508 million to expand its plant in Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo León, according to the announcement made on April 4, 2025.
With that expansion, the complex is cemented as the LEGO Group's largest plant in the world.
Why it matters where a toy is made
LEGO's manufacturing is an uncommon case of precision at mass scale: each piece holds tolerances on the order of microns so that two bricks made years apart still fit together. That demands molds, process control and automation at a level not normally associated with the toy industry.
In other words, the plant did not come to Nuevo León for labor cost. It came, and it is growing, for precision manufacturing capability and for logistical position relative to the North American market.

A facility this size does not operate alone. Around it moves demand for molds and tooling, packaging, industrial maintenance, logistics and specialized services. For Ciénega de Flores, on the state's northern corridor, that effect is what turns a plant into a hub.
